GoDaddy Debuts Pocket-Sized POS for Small Businesses

#global

Web provider GoDaddy has introduced a smaller point-of-sale (POS) tool for small businesses.

GoDaddy has introduced a compact point-of-sale (POS) tool called Smart Terminal Flex, designed specifically for small businesses. The device, unveiled on April 25, is slim enough to fit into an apron pocket, providing convenience and efficiency for businesses operating in tight spaces or away from traditional counters, such as cafes, food trucks, or auto body shops. Alongside its compact design, Smart Terminal Flex offers a dashboard where business owners can easily manage sales, orders, inventory, and generate custom reports across both online and in-person sales channels.

This move marks GoDaddy's continued expansion into the POS space since its initial entry in 2021 with the launch of the original Smart Terminal. The company has also seen significant growth in its commerce offerings, with gross payments volume reaching $1.7 billion by the end of last year, representing a 125% year-over-year increase. Additionally, GoDaddy recently introduced GoDaddy Airo, an artificial intelligence (AI) solution aimed at helping businesses enhance their online presence, joining the trend of generative AI programs catering to the needs of small businesses.

The adoption of real-time payments among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) is also on the rise, particularly in sectors like healthcare. Research by PYMNTS Intelligence indicates that 83% of businesses surveyed have either sent or received real-time payments over the past year, with 57% utilizing real-time rails for both inbound and outbound transactions. In the healthcare segment specifically, 38% of SMBs identify real-time payment rails as their primary payment method, indicating a strong preference for instant settlement in this industry.
