"The renovation of the bus fleet in Azerbaijan will be provided at the expense of local production. A factory will be built in Sumgait, and 800 new jobs will be created. "

Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, in collaboration with the Chinese BYD Company, is set to kickstart the production of electric engine buses, marking a significant stride towards Azerbaijan's sustainable development goals. With an emphasis on localizing production, efforts are underway to explore the utilization of local resources for manufacturing project spares, fostering economic growth and self-sufficiency.

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy, Digital Development, and Transport are spearheading initiatives to modernize the country's transportation infrastructure, aligning with goals for safer, eco-friendly mobility and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The partnership with BYD Company was chosen strategically from a pool of international enterprises, reflecting a commitment to leveraging global expertise in advancing local industries.

The collaboration extends beyond bus production, as Azerbaijan Investment Company OJSC joins as a shareholder in the electric bus project, with plans to expand into other sectors such as light-duty electric cargo vehicles, public utility electric vehicles, and more. With an initial investment of $34 million and ambitious goals for job creation and domestic production, the partnership with BYD signals a promising future for Azerbaijan's automotive industry and sustainable economic growth.
